Peter King Shoots Off His Big Mouth

New York Congressman Peter King says in a YouTube video that Michael Jackson was a “pervert.”

King said society is “glorifying” a “low-life” while ignoring the efforts of teachers, police officers, firefighters, veterans and volunteers.

Jackson was acquitted of molesting a boy after a dramatic trial.

In the video, the congressman says the “day in and day out” coverage of Jackson’s death is “too politically correct.”

He conceded that Jackson “may have been a good singer” and “did some dancing.”

King is among the possible Republican contenders for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

King has said in the past that he represents the interests of “blue-collar conservatives.”

Bobby Jindal’s So-So National Debut

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a so-called rising star of the Republican party, said the answer to America’s problems lay in its citizens and not in big government.

Jindal, often cited as a possible Republican presidential hopeful in 2012, gave the party’s rebuttal to a speech by President Barack Obama to a joint session of Congress and accused the Democrat of spreading doom, gloom and big-spending policies that will fuel recessionary fires.

“Our troubles are real, to be sure. But don’t let anyone tell you that we cannot recover — or that America’s best days are behind her,” Jindal said.

“The strength of America is not found in our government. It is found in the compassionate hearts and enterprising spirits of our citizens,” he said.

Jindal, 37, often draws comparisons to the 47-year old Obama. The son of Indian immigrants, Jindal is viewed as young, bright and charismatic — someone who could reinvigorate the Republican party and make it more attractive to minorities, who voted overwhelmingly Democratic in last year’s election.

Early reviews of Jindal’s speech ranged from ‘it fell flat’ to ’amateurish’ to ‘boring’ to ‘he looked like a high school student running for student body president.’

Is this the best the GOP has to offer?

The New Face Of The GOP

The Republican Party chose the first black national chairman in its history this week, just shy of three months after the nation elected a Democrat as the first African-American president.

Michael Steele,  a self-described Lincoln Republican, takes the helm of a beleaguered Republican Party that is trying to recover after crushing defeats in November’s national elections that gave Democrats control of Congress put Barack Obama in the White House.

“We’re going to say to friend and foe alike: ‘We want you to be a part of us, we want you to with be with us.’ And for those who wish to obstruct, get ready to get knocked over,”  Steele said after being elected.

We ought to be in for some fun times….
