Woman Tosses Baby Into SUV To Block Repo

A woman is accused of throwing her year-old son into her SUV in a failed attempt to stop the vehicle from being repossessed in Dallas.

Krystal Gardner of Tool was jailed Wednesday on bail of nearly $3,800 on charges including child endangerment related to abandonment, no driver’s license and no insurance. Electronic records at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center did not list an attorney for the 28-year-old mother, who was booked Monday.

Recovery agent Luke Ross told KTVT-TV that he was in the Ford Expedition when he saw Gardner toss the baby through an open window. He said the baby landed on the seat “like a kid bouncing on a bed.”

Texas law bans a vehicle from being repossessed if a person is inside.

Police were called. The uninjured baby was removed, for placement with his father. Ross then repossessed the SUV.

Man Torches His Car Battling Frost

A 76-year-old German man trying to thaw out his car incinerated it instead when he decided to speed things up by putting a blow heater under the hood.

“He burned the vehicle out completely,” said a spokesman for police in the western city of Hildesheim. Police said the man left the heater on next to the frozen windshield washer tank and returned indoors. Shortly afterwards he heard two explosions and returned to find the car ablaze.

He alerted fire services, who arrived in time to prevent the flames from destroying his house. Including charring of the building, total damages were estimated at 40,000 euros ($56,240).

Naked Man Accused Of Pounding On Cars

A man who told officers he was a medical marijuana provider has been arrested for allegedly standing naked in a Colorado highway, pounding on passing cars and spitting at a state trooper.

Dustin Robbins, 27, of Westminster, faces 13 counts including indecent exposure, assault and driving under the influence of marijuana.

Robbins was arrested Sept. 25 on U.S. 34 east of Greeley. Witnesses told investigators he was cursing at cars and hitting some.

Two women in their 70s and 80s told deputies a naked man jumped on the hood of their car, broke windows, walked across the roof and jumped off the back. Damage was estimated at $1,200.

Authorities said Robbins spat on the state trooper who arrested him.

Deputies said he told them he was a medical marijuana provider, and they found certificates for medical marijuana but no state provider’s license.

State officials said records of licensed providers aren’t public.

Robbins is jailed under $50,000 bail. No phone listing could be found for him and it wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.

Man Bra Taking Japan By Storm

The latest Japanese fashion craze is the man bra, which keeps your moobs from bouncing all over the place and distracting women in the workplace.

The man bra was introduced by a Japanese online lingerie retailer. By selling bras for cross-dressing men, they’ve launched a fad that quickly become one of its most popular items.

Since launching on Rakuten, a major Japanese web shopping mall, the Wishroom shop has sold hundreds of men’s bras for 2,800 yen, or $30 each. The shop also stocks men’s panties, as well as lingerie for women.

“I like this tight feeling. It feels good,” Wishroom representative Masayuki Tsuchiya told Reuters as he modelled the bra, which can be worn discreetly under men’s clothing.

Wishroom Executive Director Akiko Okunomiya said she was surprised at the number of men who were looking for their inner woman.

“I think more and more men are becoming interested in bras. Since we launched the men’s bra, we’ve been getting feedback from customers saying ‘wow, we’d been waiting for this for such a long time’,” she said.

But the bra, available in black, pink and white, is not an easy sell for all men.

The underwear has stirred a heated debate online with more than 8,000 people debating the merits of men wearing bras in one night on Mixi, Japan’s top social network website.

Euros Go Flying In The Wind

A man lost 23,000 euros to the wind when an envelope with the money he had stuck in the passenger seat pocket of his convertible blew away during a test drive in northern Germany.

The cash — in 500, 200, and 100 euro notes — fluttered across the motorway in the midst of speeding traffic near the city of Hanover, police said.

The man, 23, contacted police immediately, who then blocked the motorway in both directions for nearly half an hour. Eight police officers assisted the man in retrieving his notes and were able to recover 20,000 euros.

“The remaining 3,000 euros have not been found,” a police spokeswoman said, but warned treasure hunters of searching for any bills and keeping them, saying that was illegal.

Honda Unveils Dog-Friendly Element

Honda unveiled a “dog friendly” version of the Honda Element SUV, featuring a cushioned dog bed in the trunk, fitted with a built-in water bowl and fan and a ramp to help less agile dogs climb in.

The Japanese automaker showed off the SUV at the New York International Auto Show Thursday. The dog friendly components demonstrate the potential for a dedicated pet restraint system designed to meet the needs of dog owners.

In the back seat of SUV, there’s an integrated pet carrier and machine-washable seat covers to make it convenient and safe to carry smaller pets. The rubber floor mats feature a toy-bone pattern, and paw-print emblems on the side and back of the vehicle draw attention to its pet-friendly status.

A finalized version of the dog friendly element is scheduled to debut this fall.

”Pets have become more like family, more important to households than ever before,” said James Jenkins, a senior product planner for Honda. “We felt this was the perfect vehicle to offer such dog friendly features.”

Oops! Employee Smashes Borrowed Ferrari

The California Highway Patrol said a 23-year-old woman driving an expensive Ferrari owned by her boss flipped it after taking a curve too fast, causing an estimated $125,000 in damage. CHP Officer Elizabeth Addy said the woman escaped the crash without injury, but her boss was irate.

The unidentified woman apparently lost control after taking a curve at too high a speed, hit an embankment and flipped.

Addy said the woman was driving the car with the owner’s consent.

The CHP said alcohol was not a factor.

New Jersey State Police Set To Go Car Fishing

New Jersey State Police plan to go fishing next month — car fishing that is.

Environmentalists say dozens of cars and trucks have been shoved into the lower Hackensack River over the years, polluting the northern New Jersey waterway with gasoline, oil and antifreeze.

Members of the Hackensack Riverkeeper organization have been working with police to locate the submerged vehicles.

State police scanned the river bottom with sonar devices this week to pinpoint the cars’ exact locations. Next month, divers and underwater robots will attach air bags to lift them to the surface so they can be hauled off.

Authorities hope to identify owners and prosecute them for abandoning their vehicles.
